Are You Aware of the Unseen?

“Two guys land on the moon. One says to the other “I’m bored sitting here in this spaceship. I’m going down the pub for a while.” He comes back 5 minutes later and says, “Well, that was a load of rubbish”. “Why?” says his colleague. “There was no atmosphere!”

I just made this one a little more PC so as not to offend anyone.

I find it so fascinating how the moods we have can affects those around us. It is not something tangible that you can physically see or touch, as such. It is that unseen spiritual energy that is either positive or negative at its strongest. For sure, it IS contaminating. The positive and negative are those opposing forces that battle with each other until one of other wins. Somehow we are attracted to both at different times. The good feelings of positivity that include happiness, joy and motivation. Then there is self indulgent negativity that has to do with diverting away from our own personal traumas by fantasising about the projected and perceived traumas of others.

There is the the press and media that always draw attention to dramatic events. The soap operas and chat shows on TV that glorify anger, hate, illness, conflict, pain and suffering.

You might find it useful to consider your awareness around this subject.

What TV and media are you attracted to?

Are you aware of the strange satisfying feelings that are generated by watching or reading about traumatic events, be those real or fictional?

Are you aware of the atmosphere there can be in a room when there is conflict and stress?

How do you deal with that?

Are you able to pick up on and make use of positive atmosphere?

What side do you stand on when there is gossip and a pity party going on?

Does your well intentioned concern serve any positive purpose, or does it just drag you down into sadness, cynicism and depression?

Now THERE’S a challenge for you!

Do your eyes get really tired from reading as mine do?

Do you have trouble proof reading your own articles and get frustrated when you have missed a grammatical error in your content?

I’ve found a great way to overcome this. It is simple and very time saving. I recommend using text reading software. I’ve tested a product called Natural Reader. The voice produced on it is very easy on the ear. It is also very inexpensive. It saves so much time and effort stops that temptation to skip content, especially when reading an instructional article. You can just close you eyes and listen if you wish. Here is the link.

    Hi Marty,

    Great questions here.

I’m super in tune with my environment, and the moment I feel a negative vibe, I jet. This doesn’t mean I can avoid negativity, but I’ve become more adept at facing, embracing and releasing the feelings in my own being as well as not letting other’s negative viewpoints affect my mind.

    Thanks for sharing!

Cheers Ryan. It’s the awareness and doing something positive about it that matters. Like you said, sometimes that means jetting off. There’s no point in fighting unnecessary battles or ones we can’t win.

    Nice post! Loved the joke!

I watch a lot of reality tv. I don’t know that I enjoy seeing suffering but I am very interested in human behavior and how we cope in different situations. In my real life, I find that I am less tolerant of negativity as I get older. I’m at the point now where I want to cleanse negativity from my life and heal from its ill effects.

      Hi Jean and welcome.
I’m glad to see that you watch the programmes from an intellectual point of view, but its worth being aware of how the emotion displayed can affect us. Being in touch with that possibility helps us to set our boundaries.

I am an enjoyer of reality television. I know it is the “scum of the cess pool” of television but I enjoy it. Not in a way that I believe it real, but in a way that it is often a comedic release from my reality. I know when to unplug and leave it behind. I also love to watch biographies (Bio channel) because there is so much you can learn from other people’s mistakes and triumphs.

I use this as a stress reliever and an escape. But I always stay in my lane—it’s just entertainment.

That is the important part CC. To realise that it is entertainment and that you can unplug. As I said to Jean, I believe it is good to be aware that we can be contaminated if we are not careful with regard to what is negative behaviour. Setting the boundaries is key. Bless you!

Hi Marty! This is a theme lately. We do need to be aware of how our attitudes and outlooks affect others and how what we choose to surround ourselves with affects us! Great blog! =)
